After much delay and more than one name-change the Jayasurya-directed Dileep-starrer The Speed Track is finally here. (Jayasurya, the debutante director is the son of noted playwright and scenarist, the late S.L. Puram Sadanandan). And Dileep, who has been having a lean phase in his acting career for the past few months has reasons to be happy, because the film succeeds in entertaining the audience and keeps them glued to the screen till the very end.


The Speed Track tells a story set against the backdrop of a sports college. Arjun, who joins the college, is someone whose performance in athletics is simply amazing. Gauri, who had earlier seen him as an antagonist, gradually begins to admire him and they become very friendly. Gauri's brother Rahul too studies in the same college. Tinu Nalinakshan, another student has an eye on Gauri, and gets jealous when he sees her getting intimate with Arjun.

After seeing Paayumpuli, you will find

Director Mohan Kupleri, who had cast Kalabhavan Mani in the lead role
in Paayumpuli, has failed miserably in providing us something
worthwhile. Seeing Paayumpuli is a sheer waste of our time and money.
The story begins in a
place called Malacca Colony, where Saravanan, our hero, lives.
Saravanan is a henchman and works for Moosa Bhai, once a dreaded
mafia-man of Kochi. As his friend and aide Saravanan has Thankappan, an
auto-rickshaw driver. Someone comes to Malacca Colony and appeals to

Express is a train on its maiden run between Chennai and Mangalore. On board are three girls, each famous in her own way. Naadia is India's most famous rifle shooter. Shreyamani is a reporter with NDTV. Thulasimani is a well known dancer. The three board the train at Coimbatore. Shortly before it roles into Kerala, the three girls are killed. When two years of enquiry produces no results, Sharafudeen Tharamasi, SP, Railway Anti-Corruption Task Force is put in charge of the case. His enquiry finally unravels the mystery behind the murders. Suresh Gopi plays the lead role of Sharafudeen Tharamasi, while Kavya Madhavan does the role of Naadiya. The film is scripted by AK Sajan, whose last effort was Chinthamani Kola Case. While the film is an investigative thriller with considerable amount of suspense (as can be expected when AK Sajan teams up with Director K Madhu), it also delves into the lives of the three victims. The film will be released under the Krishna Kripa banner, and is expected to hit the  creens in the third week of July.

K Madhu has shot to fame, two decades ago, all by making thrillers, either investigative or political ones. Every films that are tied to his name tag like the very famous C B I series, carries this word and mood which essentially gives a concise description of his panorama of films. But now he is trying on something which seems a little different. This time trying to make another investigative thriller shot at length on a moving train. Titled Nadiya Kollapeta Rathri, the film seems to be a racy murder mystery inspired from Murder on Orient Express, the classic Agatha Christi thriller.

Nadiya Kollapeta Rathri unveils the mystery behind three murders that take place on a train. Action hero Suresh Gopi is once again becoming a part of K. Madhu films playing the lead role of an investigative Railway Protection Force officer.

The title character of this A.K Sajan story is an Indian international shooter Nadiya, who is murdered on a train which is on its inaugural run between Chennai and Mangalore. Nadhiya was planning to alight from flight to Kerala but as she missed it, she plans to make the travel in Sauparnika Express which was flagged of the same day by the central minister. The famous dancer Thulasi many and television reporter Shreya Mariya were also traveling in the same train. Shreya was a reporter known for her sharp reporting styles and was at the same time a problem maker for all politicians.

As the train entered madhukkara station near Kerala border, attender Sreenivasan was the first one who noticed that Nadhiya had been killed in the train. And within hours came the news about the death of Shreya Mariya and Thulasimani, one of their bodies found on a railway track. The murders created quite a commotion, as the people involved were all, some of the biggest celebrities. As the murders happened in the Coimbatore Railway division, the charges of investigation were on S.I.Mayilvaahanam Kathireshan. But as he has retired from service before the final investigations, nothing was made clear about the murders.

As the railway realized the need of the setting of a new force for the protection of the celebrity passengers, they set up one in the name --RASK.  The force was headed by Sharafuddeen Taramasi IPS, an encounter specialist from the Railway Anti-Criminal Task Force, who was entrusted the case, two years after the actual incidents happened. The plot follows how he clears off the mystery behind the three murders which happened on the same train. Suresh Gopi is Sharafuddeen Thamaresy. Kavya Madhavan appears as Nadhiya while Suja Karthika is Thulasimani in the film.

The film has Camera is by K. Madhu regular, Anandakuttan and editing by P C Mohan. The cast include Siddique, Rajan P Dev, Shammy Thilakan, Niyas, Subair, Suresh Krishna, Vijayakumar, Suja Karthika, Urmila Unni and Poornima. The film which is nearing completion is being shot at Coimbatore, Palghat and Kochi. The film produced under the banner of Krishnakripa, will be released by Dream Team.

When it comes to director Lal Jose, there
is no difference in opinion about the quality of movies that he creates. In the
past few years he was the only director who has been able to deliver
consistently, movies that appealed to critics and masses alike. Be it with
‘Arabikkatha’, ‘Classmates’ or ‘Meesa Madhavan’, all his films were a sure bet
at the Box office.

The director-actor
association of Lal Jose and Dileep, who started working for films almost in the
similar period as assistant directors, have to their credit a string of success
with films like 'Chandranudikkuna Dikkil' followed by the blockbuster 'Meesa
Madhavan' and 'Chanthupottu'. And after his last hit ‘Arabikkatha’ Lal Jose's
eagerly awaited much hyped flick, 'Mulla' another Dileep starrer is all set to
hit the stations for this Vishu.

Dileep
who had a poor show at the box office in recent times is waiting finger crossed
for the Box office reports of the film. According to the preview reports 'Mulla'
is destined will be a big hit.

Dileep
plays a very different title character, in a different get up and tonsured head,
in the movie. Scripted by Sindhuraj, the movie is about Mulla, an inhabitant of
a colony where criminals, thieves, prostitutes and pimps
live.

Mulla, the son of a sex worker in
a criminals' colony is also a goonda, and a petty thief who engages in all kinds
of suspicious activities even while working in the role of a hotheaded tea
vendor on trains.

The plot of the film
revolves round the romance between Lachchi, hailing from a lower middle class
background, and Mulla. On one side of the criminals' colony is a meter gauge
railway track. Mulla, meets Lachchi regularly, in a train passing through by.
The story is narrated through the memories of Lachchi while she travels in a
train.

According to the scriptwriter
Sindhuraj, 'Mulla' is a dark love story that unfolds against the backdrop of a
criminals' colony and tells more about how circumstances create a
criminal.

Meera Nandan, a popular
compere who earlier anchored the popular TV show 'Star Singer', plays the
character Lachchi, a bubbly girl, an expert in decorating cakes, who works in a
bakery run by Thommichan (Maala). She also works as a part time painter, henna
designer and also as a local beautician for a living.

'Mulla' also introduces three more debutants – Sruthi Menon, a
dusky beauty from Mumbai in the role of Vasanthi- a gypsy girl who goes around
in trains singing songs. Another important character in the film is Malathyakka,
the wife of Ambi Annan (Biju Menon), a dada in the colony, is played by 'Vanitha
Ratnam' fame Reena Basheer. The third debutante of 'Mulla' is Micheal who plays
the accompanying security personal of Malathiakka. Saiju Kurup plays the
villainous role of the local sub inspector in the movie. Biju Menon, Innocent,
Mala Aravindan, Salimkumar, Sukumari, Anoop Chandran, Bineesh Kodiyery and
Rizabava also make their appearance in pivotal roles in the
film.

The film was shot inside a rented
train for 16 days. An entire song sequence was also shot for the film inside the
train. A portion of the colony was specially designed by art director Gokul Das.
Vipin Mohan cranks the camera for 'Mulla' which was shot at Pazhani and
Palakkad.

The movie also features five
songs set to music by Vidhyasagar and penned by Vayalar Sharath. One of the
Tamil songs of the movie was visualized upon Tamil actors Ashok and Suja. The
film is produced by Sagar Sherif and Sounder Raj under the banner of Sagar
Balaji Creations.
